INTRODUCTION
Rising Above Trauma is owned and operated by Dr. Mildred D. Muhammad, D.Hum and My F.O.C.U.S. LLC. We are committed to protecting the privacy, safety, and dignity of every person who uses this application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and your rights regarding your personal data.
Your safety is our highest priority. This policy was written with victims and survivors of domestic abuse and violence in mind.
- INFORMATION WE COLLECT
1.1 Information You Provide
When you create an account we collect your name or preferred name and email address. When you use the app's features we may collect information you voluntarily enter including the following:
Account and Onboarding Information: Your selected path, Still In It, Just Left, or Rebuilding, and whether you are protecting children. This information is collected to personalize your experience within the app.
Check-In and Status Information: Your emotional check-in responses, safety ratings, and status selections.
Pattern Map Tracker Entries: Behaviors documented, frequency of incidents, feelings recorded, safety ratings, assailant name or initials if voluntarily provided, assailant relationship, private notes, and dates and times of entries.
Safety Plan Content: All eight steps of your personal safety plan including locations, contacts, and protective measures you document.
Growth Tracker Entries: Victories, breakthroughs, feelings, growth ratings, private notes, and support persons documented.
My Growth Journal Entries: All responses to journal prompts in both the I Have a Victory to Record and I Had a Bad Day flows.
Course Progress and Certificates: Your progress through the Healing to Freedom and My Growth Journey course series, quiz responses, and certificate completion data.
Court Ready Evidence Records: All documented incidents and pattern tracker entries organized for potential legal use.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
We may collect basic technical information including device type, operating system version, and app usage data to improve app performance. We do not collect your precise location. We do not track your browsing activity outside of this app.
2. DATA COLLECTION CONSENT
Before collecting sensitive personal information during onboarding, you will be presented with a clear and explicit consent prompt that identifies what data is being collected and how it will be used. You must affirmatively consent before sensitive data collection begins. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account through the Settings screen.
For push notifications including Daily Check-In Reminders and Safety Plan Nudges, you will be prompted to explicitly opt in before any notifications are sent. You may manage or disable notifications at any time through the Settings screen or your device settings.
3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
Your information is used solely to provide you with the features and services within the Rising Above Trauma app including storing your check-in records and safety documentation privately and securely, tracking your course progress, personalizing your experience based on your selected path, and providing access to your safety plan and evidence records.
We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell your information. We do not share your information with third parties except as described in Section 5.
4. HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION
All data entered into Rising Above Trauma is encrypted and stored securely. Access to your personal data requires your login credentials. The app is designed with multiple layers of protection specifically for victims and survivors of domestic abuse and violence including automatic session clearing when the app goes to background, Quick Exit which immediately clears all authentication and session data and navigates away from the app for your immediate safety, and Discreet Mode which disguises the app to protect your privacy.
5. THIRD PARTY SERVICES
Rising Above Trauma uses the following third party services:
RevenueCat: Manages subscription payments for Survivor Shield and Survivor Rise plans. RevenueCat has access only to your subscription status and transaction history. RevenueCat does not have access to any personal content you enter within the app including check-ins, journal entries, safety plans, or pattern tracker data. RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com.
Apple In-App Purchase and Google Play Billing: Process subscription payments on their respective platforms. These services have access only to transaction data necessary to process payments.
These services maintain their own privacy policies and data protection practices consistent with applicable law. We encourage you to review them.
6. DATA SHARING
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third party under any circumstances except as required by law or as described in Section 5. If we are legally required to disclose information we will notify you to the extent permitted by law.
7. EXTERNAL LINKS
The app contains links to external websites and resources including crisis hotlines, legal resources, advocacy organizations, and other support services. These external sites have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites.
8. DATA RETENTION
Your personal data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time through the Settings screen in the app. Upon account deletion all your personal data including check-ins, safety plans, notes, journal entries, growth tracker entries, course progress, and pattern tracker records will be permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days.
9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Rising Above Trauma is designed for users 13 years of age and older. Teen resources are available within the app for users between the ages of 13 and 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through this app please contact us immediately at Mildred@myfocusllc.com.
10. YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to access your personal data at any time through the app. You have the right to correct inaccurate information. You have the right to delete your account and all associated data. You have the right to export your documented evidence records. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time. You have the right to opt out of push notifications at any time.
11. SENSITIVE DATA
Rising Above Trauma collects highly sensitive personal information including details about incidents of abuse, assailant information, emotional states, and personal safety plans. This information is collected solely for your protection and safety. It is encrypted, private, and never shared with any third party without your explicit consent.
Before submitting sensitive information you will be asked to confirm your consent to store this information securely within the app.
12. CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS
If you are a California resident you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to know whether personal information is sold or disclosed, the right to say no to the sale of personal information, the right to access your personal information, and the right to equal service and price.

13. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes we will update the effective date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
